Jay Sawyer, Commissions Entertained and That's Not All

I have spent the last nine months pulling together a room for the Camden Garden Club Decorator Showhouse. As most of you know I have blogged about it titled "The Anatomy of a Room" where I have detailed the process and the team members. My only hiccup has been the coffee table. I had it all planned out but the product was never delivered leaving me in somewhat of a scramble for the room's centerpiece. Enter Mr. Awesome, aka Jay Sawyer, of Stemwinder Sculpture Works & Gardens. You gotta love an artist that has this sign posted in his shop. When I read that, the imagination started to kick into high gear! A walk with Jay through his sculpture garden was such a delight on a perfect Maine day that it made a girl not want to go back to work and sit behind the dreary desk. Jay walks slowly and has many tales to tell and I was all too willing to partake in both as it gave me time in the beautiful garden in the beautiful outdoors. As we walked and talked Jay and I really hashed out what the overall design idea was. I had previously sent him pictures of the furniture to give him a feel for the room. Walking, looking and a deadline looming we came across an outdoor seating sculpture that had great potential and of course, ingenuity. You'll have to wait for the final product - this is a sneak preview. Lastly, enjoy another one of Jay's sculptures. I am adding Jay to Divine Sites so that all of you may view his Divine Creations. |
