Tim Street-Porter

I recently had the honor of meeting Tim Street-Porter, architectural photographer. Tim and his wife, Annie Kelly, have a brand new book out entitled “Litchfield Style” in which, all of the photographs have been taken by Tim with the book being produced by Annie. I really like the book and highly recommend this to all of my design junkies.
Tim’s love of natural light is on display in all of his photographs...interior/exterior...doesn’t matter. Also present is his love of symmetry. The balance of these two elements are not readily perceptible to the eye other than it renders the page pleasing. It’s not until you breakdown the shot itself that you come to the realization of how these two elements play off of each other. Tim is a master at this.
Tim is an award-winning photographer and the author of numerous books. Having been in the homes of Bunny Williams, Carolyn Roehm and the 1754 house once owned by Oliver Wolcott, Jr. of whom, happens to be a direct descendant of my husband, makes us feel as though we are of the privileged to be peeking inside these glorious homes. I like for an interior photograph to suck me into the actual room, as if I lived there. Or, walking through the gardens as if they were mine. Tim’s photos do that. They are comfortable, warm, truly inviting and most un-pretentious. Very much the way I approach furnishing a home.
Here we all are, Liv, Tim and, myself after a most lovely and gracious lobster luncheon on Liv's outdoor loggia attached to her new library/guest house. Tim’s other books include: L.A. Modern, Casa Mexicana and Tropical Houses. |
