Merryspring Nature Center

Every year after a showhouse I say to myself "never again."  It's a huge amount of work, exhausting and somewhat brutal if it's hot outside.  I was approached earlier this year by Merryspring Nature Center for their annual Kitchen Tour.  They have a house on the tour that is for sale and devoid of any furnishings and asked me "could I make it look nice?"  Well, of course I can make it look nice - who do you think you are talking to?  No guilt going on HERE, as I take my dogs to their lovely dog park on a regular basis, yi, yi, yiiii already.

So, enough said - I am opening a retail shop in our tiny village of Rockport which I did not know about when I agreed to do the tour but, am very pleased I did.  All of the furnishings in the tour house are for sale and will be available before we open Labor Day.

I'm rolling out the new logo here:

Some of you are going to ask "what does that mean exactly?"  It's a derivitive of Roccoco from the very early days - it also happens to be some village in Africa or something or another.  Don't pay attention to that unless you would like to make yourself more aware of the world - which is very cool too.

Many of you are probably thinking that this is really not the optimal time to be opening a business, meaning, both the time of year and the ecomomical timing as well.  My answer is, "ehh, timing is not important here, the shop is very high end, one of a kind things both found and made with some custom linens thrown in.  A few new things from market and a few things that are available to the trade only.  I like to think of it as decorative antiques, etc., for the eclectic lifestyle.

Not to worry - low end bits and bobs are not my cup of tea.  The rent is affordable and my reputation will not be compormised by the current economic climate.
