The British Are Coming, Ochre to the Rescue

OCHRE creates objects of style and beauty which are both timeless and contemporary.  The collection consists of furniture, lighting and accessories for the interior, the emphasis being on the use of very high quality materials and flawless British craftsmanship.  The simplicity and honesty of form and proportion, together with the luxurious materials result in an understated elegance, which has become the signature for OCHRE.

I personally find the entire line refreshing, clean and transitional.  The lighting is especially fun and sparkly.  I am fascinated by the Pear Drop Chandelier. This would be lovely in any dining room.

The Snooze Day Bed is as inviting as a tall cool drink on a hot summer day.

Another yummy chandelier by OCHRE.  The Light Drizzle Chandelier, Large, custom sizes available.

The Zeffirelli Chair is one lean and mean sit.  I feel summer in the air.

The Divine Recline Chaise Longue is best described by its name "Devine".  Again the lines are very clean and can transition into an decor.

While I am a huge fan of anything antique I am not picky.  French, Swedish, English, I love it all but, more and more, I find myself becoming a fan of modern, or "moderne", as one of my client's pronounces it.  My generation (don't ask, won't tell) grew up with our parent's antiques surrounding us and we dared not step too far outside of the box for fear we wouldn't be "worthy" of acquiring our sentimental treasures.  Now I find that the 30's something nesters today are abandoning all notion of having to hold onto the past.  Instead I find these younger ones enjoying the antiques that their parent's are willing to pass down all the while mixing them with very modern pieces, vintage or new.  While I endorse this aesthetic I am also finding this a wonderful challenge with clients my own age as well (we do come around, it just takes us longer).  I recently designed a living room in an antique Federal home whereby every piece of furniture was antique in frame.  We re-upholstered the antique pieces in present day Ralph Lauren fabric and hung a chandelier made from wire and acrylic.  The outcome...devine.  And, that to "dive" for color blue on the sofa?...Clarence House mohair.
